Welcome to Somethingville…
a place for all the little “somethings” that go on in my world, that for some reason evolve around words that inspire and encourage, pictures, food, adventures and once in a while, something random.
IN A NUTSHELL…
I’m a Mom to two beautiful daughters. Wife to a wonderful husband. Grandmother to two four-legged, furry creatures and something floating in a fish tank. Daughter to two amazing, loving, supportive (and crazy) parents. Sister to energetic, creative, smart, hardworking siblings. Niece, cousin and friend to beautiful people.
Enjoying life by pursuing my passion in photography, philanthropy & business while in a constant state of construction. So here’s my philosophy… However you want your Eulogy written, live it now.
…
I am so amazed at your candor and spontaneity. You are so much like your Papa, but it’s true, one should follow their dreams to the fullest. Sometimes shyness and fear of what people might say becomes a hindrance. But life is full of surprises. It isn’t always a smooth road we travel on. The bumps jolt us if we don’t see it coming, but it makes us aware and fearless of what we might encounter ahead of us.
I remember one time when we told you about our plans for the future (I was 61 then and your Papa, 64) You told us we should be enjoying our retirement. We told you that this is what keeps us “ageless”, continuing to make more plans for the future.(of course we’ve always made changes along the way, depending on the circumstanses that come our way).
I’ve had a lot of plans for “my” future when I was in college. Getting married early was out of the question. My father had high hopes for a bright career for me. I was to finish my Masters in Journalism and become an officer in the US Navy (Daddy was a career officer himself). Well, love struck me like a lightning rod, unexpectedly. I said good-bye to my dreams but never regreted a moment at what I have now. I’ve come to realize that my children and grandchildren are living out my dreams for me. I am so blessed to have the best career ever, being a wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.
Just letting you know that I gave you a versatile blogger award- no pressure to take part; but if you do wish to know what it entails, just click my link http://nocturnefirefay.wordpress.com/2012/02/18/versatile-awards/
Congrats either way and have a lovely weekend.
Thank you so much, I am honored!
you’re very welcome 🙂
Just a quick thank you for signing up to follow my blog!
You’re welcome! I’m enjoying your posts!
Thank you! That made my day!
I love that outlook. I can totally relate =)
It’s the way to be (except when I’m PMSing, which is on the verge of extinction because now I’m pre-menopausal).
Nice approach to this mad little adventure called life we’re all living. Good for you! I agree completely … a dear friend of mind said to me once “life’s too short to be a hobbyist!” Have you seen the Holstee Manifesto?( http://shop.holstee.com/pages/about ) I have it taped to my studio door, and read it every day when I enter and leave the space. Perspective is everything.
Yup, I decided to check in. I will have to check it out! Thank you and you’re welcome!
OMG. It’s like… OMG! Ok, I will now have a series of photographs for these beautiful words that everyone has inside them. THANK YOU, I love it!
Thought it would make sense on all kinds of levels to you! Glad you like it! They do amazing work. Oh … and for some added inspiration, check out brainpickings.org. Great ideas about all kinds of things. Have a great day!
AND … thanks for liking the blog post today!
Hi! Thanks for reading my blog. I am having fun visiting yours. Your Mom’s comment above was so sweet!
Cheers,
Louise
She is an awesome lady. I love her…
I’m with you on following your dreams. I love reading about people who have reinvented themselves and have celebrated life.
I like that… I’ve reinvented myself. Thank you for following my blog, I hope you enjoy your visits here.
I love your style and humor. I am a dreamer as well and want so much out of this life. I quit my job to focus on my creative side–the side that I all but abandoned for years. Now, I love my life with my husband, enjoy my family and friends, focus on my writing (finished my second novel) and have rediscovered poetry. Travel, photography and taking each day as it comes are all a plus too. I wish you luck in all you do. Oh, and I believe in eating dessert for dinner too! Take care.
Aww shucks!!! I’m glad you’re likin’ it!

Peter
Thank you Peter! I guess the older I get, the better I value time and its short stay in our lives. I’m glad to have inspired you. By the way, I never thought they had wild fires in the South Pole. I thought all that was there was ice! Well, take care, thank you again and be careful while putting out those crazy wild fires!
Wonderful profile. Congrats on a new start! Thanks for liking my post also : )
Thank you and you’re welcome! Have a wonderful day.

First of all, thank you for subscribing to my blog.
I think it’s great that you’ve chosen to do something about what you love, especially at a very young age. Please continue to write, so that one day, you can do what you love for a living and you’ll never work a day in your life. Never give up on your dreams and I hope you never have to set it aside to pursue success, fame or riches. Become an expert of what you love most and everything else will follow. Stay in school and live your life with intention, because time goes by so fast.
Good luck with your blogging. You can call me Ate, I’m from the Philippines too. Welcome to SOMETHINGVILLE!
Thanks Ate Christine! I definitely won’t forget your advice!

Thank you Lisa. It’s been quite a ride and only 13 months have passed. Here’s to the next 20+ years! Have a great day.
hi 😉 you left your job to start an NGO? oh that is my dream! i worked with humanitarian and now working again in a private company… and now I am in a crisis thinking what the he** Im doing here when I already found my happiness humanitarian development…. please share your story to inspire…
It was a compilation of many things to get me to this point which started in 2003 when my house in the foothills of Southern California almost burned to the ground, but my daughter was my inspiration to leave corporate america last year. She was 9 when she planted a seed in my heart about a great idea… her story is right here: http://www.sternfels.com/a_dollar_a_day_for_a_year_how_we_started.htm
Today I am still waiting for my 501c3 determination from the IRS, getting ready to hire some interns, still looking for a mentor, working out of my guest bedroom and having my board meetings in my kitchen. I get rejections and “What the he** were you thinking of, this is NOT easy!” statements. My favorite question is “Do you know what you’re doing?” My answer is “NO. What’s the fun in this if I did!”
But I tell you this… I am having the time of my life (Now that Dirty Dancing song is playing in my head-thanks)… I’m not afraid of work, losing or making mistakes. It’s only bad if I think it is, and I happen to think it’s freaking amazing! More to come… still working on that book you know, the one that will turn into a blockbuster and Jennifer Lopez will play my character! ha ha…. thanks for stopping by. Stay inspired… stay optimistic. Life’s too short to be miserable all the time and too long not to be happy most of the time.
Hi Christine, Thanks for stopping by my blog. It’s great to hear you following your dreams and cutting lose from creative constraints. Sounds like you have a lot going on, and the talent to support you. I’m looking forward to seeing more.

Hi Christine the maker of dreams! Thanks for your visit and like – I wonder if we would not ask WP to have a ‘love’ button rather than a ‘like’. Anyway. I looked through your blog and there plenty of good energy there! We have plenty in common it seems – at least the number of dreams we hold and intend to tick off the list! The happiness series is a greta idea! All best wishes and … good luck!

Hello Christine,
you have a great blog – I love to read your “I’m grateful for…” and “I’m letting go of…” – it´s very interesting and motivating for me! So I can also often think about what I should be grateful for. Your words give me inspiration to think about my life and about things in general which I should let go of, too.
Thank you for sharing of your impressing words – I´m looking forward to read the next “I´m grateful for …” and “I´m letting go of …”. And also your amazing postings! Thank you for stopping by on Guided By My Heart – let us keep on dreaming and let us follow to our heart!
Cheers,
Lady Heartfelt
Thank you for your kind words, I’m glad you’re enjoying my posts and my 30 day series on gratitude. “The little things” started when I did the series of re-discovering happiness. Gratitude is something we all have taken for granted, it’s nice to be reminded that we are blessed.
Thank you for following somethingville.com and WELCOME! I hope you enjoy your visits, take care.
Yes, it´s true – we take gratitude for granted and we forget how many things we have in our life, that make us happy. Contentedness is very important – to be contented what we have, what we already have achieved till now. And to be contented that we are able to dream and take action (if we really want) for our dreams come true!
Nice to meet you Christine – have a beautiful weekend!
You have such strength. What a beautiful site, I’m so glad I stumbled upon this space, so much inspiration and strength. Blessings.
Thank you Julianne! I’m glad you stumbled upon Somethingville. Visit often, and when you do, I hope you find joy in what I share. Take care!
Hi Ate! I nominated you with the Versatile Blogger Award! Please click this link http://kuyasnotebook.wordpress.com/2013/02/02/versatile-blogger-award/ for more about it! Thanks for giving me inspiration from when I started blogging up to now. 🙂
Thank you Josh, I am honored!
Some great food photography. My wife is a chef and I hope to post a few on my blog at some point. All the best
Thank you. I look forward to seeing them.
I saw the name of your blog on ‘Katya Kitchen’. That’s a very inspiring thing to say because usually people are just suspicious of each other. Simply seeing those words was a great reminder.
